Per the United Nations refugee organization, in excess of 60,000 people have left the city in Sudan of el-Fasher, which was captured by the militia RSF during the weekend.

Reports indicate multiple executions and crimes against humanity as paramilitary forces took control of the city after an extended encirclement marked by famine and heavy bombardment.

The exodus of those escaping the violence towards the community of Tawila, roughly 80km (50 miles) west of el-Fasher, had increased in the last several days, according to UNHCR representative.

Refugees were describing horrendous tales of violence, such as sexual violence, and the humanitarian group was having trouble to locate enough housing and food for them.

All children was experiencing nutritional deficiencies, she noted.

Calculations indicate that in excess of 150,000 residents are currently trapped in el-Fasher, which had been the military's last stronghold in the western region of Darfur.

The RSF has rejected extensive allegations that the executions in el-Fasher are ethnically motivated and resemble a pattern of the Arab militia groups focusing on non-Arab populations.

Nevertheless the paramilitary group has custodied one of its members, Abu Lulu, who has been accused of extrajudicial killings.

The group released video revealing the militiaman's apprehension after verification that he was involved in the killing of numerous unarmed men in the vicinity of el-Fasher.

Digital platform has verified that it has banned the channel connected to Lulu. The status remains unclear whether he had managed the account in his identity.

Sudan was thrown into a internal conflict in April 2023 after a vicious power struggle erupted between its army and the RSF.

It has caused a famine and accusations of genocide in the Darfur area.

Over 150,000 people have died in the fighting throughout the country, and roughly 12 million have left their residences in what the United Nations has described as the most extensive humanitarian disaster.

The capture of el-Fasher solidifies the regional separation in the country, with the RSF now in dominance of western Sudan and significant areas of bordering Kordofan to the southern area, and the army holding the main city, Khartoum, the center and east along the coastal region.

The opposing sides had been partners - taking over together in a coup in 2021 - but disagreed over an internationally backed plan to transition to civilian rule.
