Person of Interest in Ivy League Campus Shooting Located Deceased Inside Storage Unit.
The individual linked to the weekend's deadly violence at Brown University reportedly committed suicide on Thursday night, according to law enforcement.
He was found at a storage location on Thursday evening, according to information from an enforcement source. The same individual is also suspected of killing a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor at a home in the Boston area.
âHe ended his own life this evening,â said the chief of the Providence police department during a news briefing.
The chief named the deceased man as Claudio Nevis Valenti, a 48-year-old individual enrolled at Brown University.
This news follows a significant police operation at a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire earlier on Thursday. Witnesses reported seeing multiple armed officers entering the premises.
The intensive search for the shooter had restarted on Monday after state prosecutors announced that a individual detained on Sunday had been released. This turn of events was acknowledged to be likely to cause fresh anxiety for the local community.
City leadership emphasized that while the letting go was a setback, the overall case continued unabated.
The two students who were killed in the attack have been named by family. They are Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama who was active in a campus political group, and MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an international student in his first year who aspired to a neurosurgeon.
Authorities are expected to hold a news briefing to provide further details on the suspect's death.
