Recent Details Come to Light Regarding the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
New information has come to light regarding the tragic demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
The Alarm
According to a report citing a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained without bail.
Correcting the Record
The person close to the family questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.
The source also refuted circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Details
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the condition of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
