Sam Fender has donated the full amount of his £25,000 honor winnings to the MVT, which operates to protect the Britain's independent concert spaces.

Fender was presented with the award on 16 October as his latest record the album was chosen as the top album of the last 12 months.

The musician has decided to give the cash to the trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his initial steps.

"I would not have achieved what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, top acts including the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which supports independent venues.

Sam Fender also took part, generating more than £100,000 on his live tour to support numerous grassroots venues across the UK.

The money assisted spaces that were dealing with possible closure due to difficulties caused by flooding, fires and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and noise complaints.

Other venues were granted monetary aid in upgrading infrastructure and gear that directly benefitted musicians and fans.

"The concept that revenue from concerts in large arenas backs the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just logical," the star has stated.

Previously, Ezra Collective donated their winnings to the local youth club that supported their group, alongside other independent music bodies.

Also winners that year they contributed their winnings to a MS organization after a acquaintance was found to have the illness.

"Winning was quite enough," stated singer Small. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the cake. So our winning touched another person's life."

Recently, the MVT shared it had saved two local spots in the South East, by placing them under community ownership.

The Joiners in Southampton and the other in that location were acquired under the Own Our Venues program, which is supported by a national body and enthusiasts who purchase "ownership units" in the venues.
